Research: Links to similar artists/bands (felicity)

These are some bands within the indie/pop genre whom I think relate and are similar to our band Maliki. Some similarities are that there is usual a lead vocalist, who receives more attention from camera, press and audience than the other members of the band. For example, Matt Healy from The 1975 is the main singer and is the most recognisable from his band, the same as Laura is going to be the main focus within our music video, as well as our print products. 

Another similarity is that all the bands above as well as Maliki have produced a variety of songs that still fit within the indie/pop genre, such as fast upbeat songs like "Girls" by The 1975, and "Mr Brightside" by The Killers. This variety keeps audiences entertained as there is a mixture of different sounds which still fit the genre the audience is most interested in. I feel our band Maliki fit the forms and conventions of and indie/pop band, and also relate to the target audience through their own ages and the lyrics within their songs which feature teenage issues/subjects such as adolescence, drugs, alcohol, love and so on.
