3. What have you learned from your audience feedback?
From our the audience feedback I collected I felt that we were able to take on board what each person said and we were then able to go back make any changes that had been suggested and see how we felt about them and if it worked or not. Our audience feedback came from the target audience we were going for (14-18) we decided that this was the best idea as we did want it to please them mostly and have them wanting to buy the album.
What I also liked about the audience feedback was that we were able to learn new things from other people, people came up with ideas and we were able to use them such as putting the text in line with the bench on our magazine advert. Through our feedback we were able to get a wide range of opinions that we could then take into consideration when making any changes to our three products.
From our audience feedback we also found out that many people found the song too slow but through the narrative and performance shot they were kept engaged throughout and they felt this was very successful.
Many of those who perfected the indie genre liked the way we had balanced the video by having a narrative but also then including a performance shot.
When we began the process we did a lot of research and planning. We knew we were going to make a video for a indie-pop band so we went out and looked at many current indie bands and watched many of their clips to see what the indie style was. One band we looked at in particular was 'The XX' we found that there videos also had elements of narrative and performance shots and when watching we felt that this engaged us more and we felt that we were entertained at all times. We also found that most indie bands had a young target audience from ages 14-25. We found that we too wanted to produce for this target audience so we decided to use 'The XX' as a guidance through our journey.
Through collecting surveys and audience feedback we were then able to really consider all aspects of our music video such as Mise-En-Scene. We decided on the young target audience so to appeal to them we decided that the band in the music video would be laid back and dressed like todays generation (jeans, top and boots) we found that the audience would be able to relate to this. Furthermore we also wanted the bands personalities to come out so we had the performance shots in the video but we also had shots of the band on the digipak where they are seen being themselves and having a laugh.
The audience feedback I collected once my products were fully complete were all very positive, many of the people we showed the video to said they loved it but on the other hand those who were not too fond of the indie genre found the actual song too slow but the visuals were a big success as it kept them entertained at all time. Furthermore once all the products were complete many people said that we had successfully created synergy throughout all three products and that they all looked very professional and linked in with the bands song.
If i were to market my music video I would 100% get straight onto social media and start advertising the video on all sites such a facebook, twitter, instagram, youtube, tumblr, snapchat etc. I feel that this would be the most successful was of going about this as the target audience we are trying to aim the video at is one in which they are all using social media and all connect through the internet. This type of marketing would be fast and efficient and i believe would reach people not only in the UK but around the world.
Reflection:
Overall I feel that from my audience feedback i have been able to get information of how i can improve each of my products, this has meant that each of my products are now much more successful. In addition the audience feedback also allowed me to understand how people were viewing each of my products and how my ideas may have not been as good as i thought or that my ideas were actually very successful. I feel that the audience feedback was very important as it meant we could speak to our target audience and create something for them in which they could enjoy. From all the audience feedback i gathered i did end up changing something each time, for example someone suggested to not have as many scenery shots in our music videos as it took away from the narrative, when watching my video again i could understand what they were saying and decided to cut out a few shots.
I feel that I have learnt the audience feedback is something that will always be needed to create the best products possible and to target a certain audience.

Evaluation Question 2- Felicity
From my audience feedback, I found that my target audience appreciated how there was synergy between all 3 products, especially my ancillary texts. They found that especially how there was a particular colour scheme allowed them to recognise the products better and then know that it was an advertisement for Maliki straight away. They also recognised Laura as the main protagonist in the music video, and saw how that followed through into the print products which they found effective, and also recognised this was common within the genre to have a main member represent the band. Finally, the agreed that institutional information on both print products was important as it allowed them to know when the music was available and where to purchase it from.

Evaluation Question 3 (Jessica Fernando)
What have you learnt from your audience feedback?
Audience feedback for Music Video
Audience feedback for Magazine advert & Digipak
Evaluation Question 1 (Jessica Fernando)
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
MUSIC VIDEO
Mise-en-scene:
Mise-en-scene is a important factor in a indie genre as it helps to portray the narrative much better. indie artists often have a casual look which can be created through their costumes and also their make-up. there could be additional actors in the music video who are the main charaters in the narrative of the video, in which they would have to portray the part through their appearance and also the way they act. Props are also very important to ensure that the music video looks realistic. For and Indie genre, key props would include instruments, which shows the artists are actually the ones playing the instruments. Lighting for a typical Indie music video would contain vibrant collours to get a sense of reality and for location indie music videos tend to be on a low budget such as using a area like a park to shoot their videos.
Conforming to the conventions of a Indie genre:
All of these features have been conformed to the typical indie music video to which I have used for our music video, for example;
Costumes: For the make up of the artist we conformed to a indie music video by Lana del Rey ' High in the Beach' as it shows, that she isnt wearing much make up, as she is showing how natural she is, which links in with the genre indie.
Therefore, we decided to apply this convention to our music video, where the singer who is the main person in the video, shows that she isnt wearign a lot of make up either, in order to show that she is natural and beautiful.
Props: Our music video conformed to a indie music video such as smoking, which a lot of indie people do smoke, as it goes with the look of being indie, as you can see below Lana Del Rey 'West Coast' shows the main singer smoking, with her partner, as well as looking directly at the camera which many artists of the indie genre do, in order to catch the audiences attention
As a result we decided to cofrom to the indie convention and applied it to our music video, in order to match the genre for the music video, where we got our two main charaters smoking as well as having the female singer directly looking at the camera.
Moreover, another convention to a typical indie music video, is having a scene in the music video, where the whole band come together and perform, for example, Arctic Monkeys 'Arabella' clearly seen below, they have added of a performance shot of the band playing the instruments.
As a result we decided to conform to this convention of a indie genre music video by adding a performce shot of the band Maliki in order to get a sense of reality to show the passion the band has for making music, as a result from their facial expressions you can see the passion they have. also having the performance shot mean tthat we could focus ont he artists individually to see what they are doing whilst performing, this creates and effect to the audience to show what they could be like when they beocm e reall ybig as at the moment they are unsigned artists.
Lighitng: As for the lighting for our music video we went for a vibrant colour such as for the performcance shot, and at the park, we didn't add any effects in order to make sure we show the natural colour of the shots we took for example this is portrayed in years of years video 'take shelter' where you can see below that the colour of the whole music video, shows how pure the evironment is.
As a result we decided to conform to this convention and apply it to our music video, to show how vibrant these individuals are.
Location: For our music video we chose to film at Walpole Park located in Ealing the reason for this is because in the park there are plenty of trees to which conformed to other indie music videos such as Years and Years 'Take Shelter', as you see belowfrom their music video, you can see how the trees create a nice shot with the sunlight glazing through it.
As a result we decided to confrom to this convention of indie music video and applied it to our music video, as shown below, as plenty of indie muic videos film in areas such as parks and forests in order to show how natural the envinoment around them is, esecially throught the colour of the leaves and the sunlight glazzing through.
The second location we decided to use was at one of the band members house, where they have their mini studio, the reason we chose this is because it shows the audience what environment they make their music, this can be related to other indie people as they may also have a small little studio to where they play music.
Challenging to the conventions of a Indie genre:
Athough we confrmed to a lot of forms and conventiosn of a indie music video we did challege them in a way.
Lighting: often for some indie music videos, there is usualy a black and white effect, th ereason for this is to make it vintage and look the part of indie, however, we decided to challenge this convention for our music video, and keep the colour in, as we coud show hwo the colours of our location create a great site for the audience, as those who are indie can relate to liking vibrant colours.
Costume: alot of indie music videos do contains some voyeristic elements to promote the male gaze, hwoever for our music video, we did not shwo any voyeritic features as we wanted to wanted to show hwo being a teen could be very upsetting abotu being in love, therefore decided not to have a voyeristic element.
With reference to Goodwin, our music video conforms to his features of a music video in that music videos demonstrate charateristics for example the performnce shot of the band.

Music video and ancilary text Feedback
From this feedback we are able to understand that we have been very successful in creating three different products which are all selling one thing. We are all very happy with the feedback we got and we feel that we will take on board what everyone has said and as a group will decide on what we will change and keep the same to further improve each of our products.
